Recently, the 2024 (7th) China Cable Industry Innovation Materials and Technology Summit was successfully held in Hangzhou. The conference conducted in-depth discussions on Industry-University-Research, transformation of scientific and technological achievements, research and development of new products and other hot issues in the industry, helping the market meet new challenges and promoting the healthy and stable development of wire and cable related industries. Silicon fiber polymer is an indispensable raw material in the formula design of wire and cable. With the rapid and high-quality development of wire and cable products, higher and higher requirements are put forward for silicon fiber polymers, which are ultra-fine and functional. Its functions include: filling and compatibilization, reducing production cost, improving processability (such as adjusting viscosity, rheological property and vulcanizing property), improving mechanical properties of cables (such as tensile strength and elongation at break), and improving dimensional stability and physical properties of cables (such as heat resistance, extinction, wear resistance, flame retardancy, whiteness, hardness and gloss), so it has high added value.


Its main features are:

  • Stable chemical properties, acid resistance, alkali resistance and chemical corrosion resistance, and can also be applied to cable products in special environments such as underground and mines.

  • It has excellent dielectric properties, and the dielectric constant of silicon fiber polymer is higher than that of other inorganic powders including calcium carbonate and talcum powder.

  • It is an inorganic silicon-based flame retardant, which has the functions of high temperature resistance, fire resistance and flame retardant. Its flame retardant mechanism is that a solid amorphous silicon protective layer is formed during the combustion of composite materials, which can well isolate the heat generated by substances in the protective layer and the flammable gas from spreading to the outer layer, so that the product can achieve self-extinguishing, thus achieving the flame retardant effect.
